During the #CSAtweetup for Curiosity’s landing we were invited back later that morning to get a tour of the facilities and learn more about the ways through which the Canadian Space Agency supports programs not only like the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission but space exploration in general. During our visit for example to the Space and Planetary Sciences Lab we learned how they were analyzing various elemental compositions of rocks and soil to better understand how it may have been altered by water, and how understanding the chemical composition …

In addition to our efforts providing technical expertise and training for the rover program, Canada is perhaps more famously known for its development of the Canadarm in 1981, which would go on to accompany the shuttles ninety times into space. And while its service of 30 years ended with the Space Shuttle program in 2011, its legacy continues on board the International Space Station (ISS) where future generations of the arm have been developed to assist with repairs and the delivery of supplies.

Thanks to Nic’s internet-fu we heard about Dave Chappelle’s three pop-up shows being staged at the Winter Garden Theatre this week, and were able to snag some tickets before it quickly sold out. Given that it’d been almost six years since the reclusive stand-up comedian had performed in Toronto after quitting his cable show, really not all that surprising. As a major innovator in robotic technologies the CSA is responsible for a number of different aspects of the rover program. Take for example our …

Over the long weekend here in Ontario, Nic and I were fortunate enough to have the chance to attend the Canadian Space Agency’s tweetup at their headquarters in St. Hubert for Curiosity’s landing on Mars this past Sunday (August 5th).
We also got to return later that morning and get a tour of the facilitates and hear from a number of lecturers on the work they’re doing there and the CSA’s plans for the future. While we’re still working on processing the footage we have of their Rover testbed and …

When I went to #NASATweetup for the final Shuttle launch, I was also featured on The National – and because of that, my family and I were fortunate enough to have a short reel of Super 8 film transferred to digital. The clip was also used on the broadcast. It’s pretty amazing to see the difference in technology in the twenty-nine years between the two launches… even if my footage is really really bad. The fact that I shot it on my PHONE is astounding alone.
Here’s what my dad shot …

For my 2010 birthday we decided to take a short cruise out of Miami. Deciding to indulge in my enjoyment of eating my way across the world, we decided to go with a food themed itinerary for the trip and ended up opting for a galley tour and seating at the Head Chef’s table. Chef Ajit was even kind enough to do a short baking demo and showed us how they make the much coveted Carnival Molten Chocolate Cake. You can make out most of what he says, but those …
