Originally the starting point for tours of the park’s production studios – the entrance marked by the square “studio arch” – the Animation Courtyard has become home to a number of different attractions that examine the various evolutions Disney’s cast of animated characters has undergone over the decades. One Man’s Dream takes us back to the beginning of Walt Disney’s dreams of an animation studio exploring his life and legacy through photos, models, and artifacts from Disney’s archives.
But it’s not all strictly animation, over at the Voyage of the Little Mermaid you can take in a live show where a cast of human actors use an assortment of glow-in-the-dark puppets, lasers, music, projectors, and water effects to recreate key scenes and songs from the Little Mermaid animated film. This is also where the Magic of Animation can be found which serves as a Meet and Greet location for both Disney and Pixar characters, and if you visit during October the occasional villain out celebrating Halloween. Character design displays for new theatre releases can be found here as well.
